Working with clay is an adventure.
Clay is seductively accessible, yet the challenge of exploring it's infinite possibilities is an opportunity for endless experimentation and discovery. Lately I have been intrigued with making faces that emerge from the clay. These faces reflect an emotion or state of mind that I wish to explore.
I often leave my work unglazed and finish it simply with washes of oxides that accentuate the interplay of light and shadow on the natural color of the clay. Other times I add color to the surface with applications of underglaze and glaze or use cold finishing media such as paint and pigmented wax.
All of my pieces are one of a kind.
Thank you for looking at my work.
