Working with clay is an adventure. It is seductively accessible yet endlessly challenging, offering infinite possibilities for experimentation and discovery.

My sculptures are built from stoneware clay using a variety of handbuilding methods. Each piece is unique and made without molds or patterns. After creating the work I bisque fire it in a kiln, apply underglazes and/or glazes, and then re-fire it-sometimes multiple times. I often enhance the surface with subtle applications of cold finishes.

I create sculptures to explore emotions or states of mind, often revealing connections between nature, narrative, and the human form. While I start with a drawing and concept, the work often evolves in unexpected directions as it develops. I hope my sculpture remain open to interpretation, inviting viewers to discover their own personal meanings within them.
